I love helping others, whether it be directly or indirectly. I find that volunteering for a great cause is truly rewarding and satisfactory. I know I'm not getting paid or receiving something in return for the things that I do, but I enjoy the pleasure that it brings me as a person.
Everywhere I go I make sure that a part of me is dedicated to working with others to accomplish a great cause. As a first year student at CBU I figured that being a full time student was not as rewarding as giving back to my community. It was then that I decided to start a club of my own. Something that was different and not already active.
After one semester of several issues that involved starting this club, it was finally active. To this point in time the club is an official club at CBU and is called the FAITH club, which stands for Faith Action Integrity, Together with our Heritage. The purpose of the club is to integrate the CBU community and help the Riverside community as a whole. I discovered that not many clubs already active were focusing on helping the community outside of CBU, and when several students on campus found out about the plans we have as a club, they seemed very interested.
We want to focus on Operation Christmas Child and make sure that our CBU community becomes involved in cooperating with the Harvest Church to make sure that children receive gifts this Christmas season. Also, our plans to grow in helping the Riverside community will involve participating in conjunction with the Keep Riverside Clean & Beautiful organization so that we can indeed keep Riverside clean. There are so many plans that lie ahead, and as President of the FAITH club I know that working together we will accomplish every single one of them.
I still don't know my beat, but I sure know that I would love covering campus activities and how the CBU community responds to them.
